WSS News – October

For this month I will touch on an issue I have talked about before but one where I think WSS can add good value.

Improving the capacity to monitor, to measure and to analysis (manage) is an important area of running a business. Monitoring and measuring especially when you are on the go can save valuable time and give insights to use water more efficiently (or with less waste so less cost).

There are various product options (companies providing technology in this space) to provide valuable management information.

To provide an example for WSS in this space is when we install a new Lorentz solar pump. In the past we would commit to visit a couple of times in the first six months to check on performance and ensure it is operating to specification. This could be pump performance, the pressure system is operating correctly, the level of irradiation (energy), water flows or tank levels.

What is more efficient for us is to do is put a telemetry connection on the installation for a period of say six months, that allows us to look at all of the above (and a fair bit more if there are problems) from an app on our phone. The customer also has access to the information via their phone, but it is more relevant that we manage the performance on their behalf.

It saves WSS money (we don’t need to physically visit) and because we are doing it every day it becomes very efficient for us to do. It also gives the customer piece of mind.

The technology is available for purchase and in some cases, it is a really important investment for the customer. But in some cases, it is more efficient for WSS to oversee (monitor) that initial install.

Solar pumping is a very big part of our business now so please get in contact to discuss your project.

Regards Jack
